Oliver Kannenberg studied political science and economics in Halle (Saale). He has been working as a research assistant at the Institute for Parliamentarism Research since March 2018. As a doctoral candidate at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, he is devoting his doctoral project to the institutionalisation of parliaments in Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia.
In the winter semester 2024/2025, he was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Southeast European Studies (CSEES) at the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz (Austria). He was supported by an Ernst Mach Scholarship from the Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD) of the Republic of Austria. He has also been an Associate Researcher at CSEES since March 2025.
Oliver Kannenberg is a member of the German Association for Parliamentary Affairs (DVParl), the German Southeast European Society (SOG) and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).
