Christian Ignorek
joined IParl as a Research Associate in April 2024. Prior to that, he worked for several years as a student assistant and consultant in the SPD parliamentary group in the city of Halle (Saale). In addition to that, he gained further practical experience during internships at the Federal Executive Board of the German Trade Union Confederation and the party leader´s office of the SPD-Saxony-Anhalt, Dr. Andreas Schmidt. In his Master`s thesis for the study programme "Parliamentary Issues and Civil Society" (Parlamentsfragen und Zivilgesellschaft) at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, he examined influencing variables on the leadership process as well as control instruments used to establish party discipline by Social Democratic parliamentary group leaders in state parliaments and city councils. In addition to political leadership, his areas of interest include representation, crisis and local political research.
