Schüttemeyer’s article on the "Future of Parliamentary Democracy" highlights and explains various challenges for parliamentarism in multi-level systems. Schüttemeyer emphasizes the importance of representation and legitimacy as core tasks of parliaments. She also points to the central role of parties which is tested in the face of increasing membership shrinkage.
