OUR PROFILE
The Institute for Parliamentary Research is an institution of the Foundation for Science and Democracy (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Demokratie, SWuD). It was founded on the 1 April 2016 in Halle (Saale) and has been based in Berlin-Mitte since the 1 November 2018.
IParl operates in four areas:
- Conducting research on parliamentarism, broadly understood as the organization of democratic representation, its relevant forms and functions, its institutions and actors, and its rules and processes;
- Serving as a forum for parliamentary democracy, outwardly directed at imparting knowledge to society, while internally focusing on research;
- Projects about parliamentary best practices;
- Advising parliaments and parties.
