Prof. Dr. Franziska Carstensen
studied political science and literature (German studies) in Potsdam and Edinburgh. Afterwards, she participated in the third-party funded project PolitikON and worked for six years as an editorial assistant for the "Zeitschrift für Parlamentsfragen" (Journal for Parliamentary Affairs). In addition, she was a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. In 2012, as a Saxony-Anhalt state graduate scholar, she completed her dissertation on "Functional Patterns and Profiles: Subnational State Parliaments in Comparison." Between 2012 and 2023, she worked as a scientific online tutor at the FernUniversität in Hagen. Since 1st April 2024, she is guest professor for political science and public administration at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. Her research and teaching areas include the German political system, parliaments at all levels (especially at the sub-national state level), and federalism.
